This is a true story that happened to a friend of mine.
Let's call her Sarah.
Sarah had recently moved to a new city and was excited to start her new life.
She found a great apartment in an old building in the downtown area.
The rent was cheap, and the location was perfect.
She signed the lease without much thought.
It wasn't long before Sarah began to notice strange things happening in her apartment.
At first, it was just little things,
like objects moving from one place to another or doors opening and closing on their own.
She brushed it off,
thinking it was just her imagination.
But things started to escalate.
Sarah would wake up in the middle of the night to find her bedroom door open,
even though she had locked it before going to bed.
She heard strange noises coming from inside her closet,
like someone was whispering her name.
One night,
Sarah woke up to find a dark figure standing at the foot of her bed.
She couldn't make out any details,
but she felt a sense of dread wash over her.
She tried to scream, but no sound came out.
Sarah was terrified.
She went to the building manager to ask if anyone had ever reported anything strange happening in her apartment.
The manager hesitated before telling Sarah that the previous tenant had moved out because they claimed the apartment was haunted.
Sarah couldn't believe it.
She had never believed in ghosts before,
but now she was convinced that something supernatural was happening in her apartment.
She started to research the history of the building and discovered that it had been built on the site of an old asylum.
Sarah knew she had to do something.
She contacted a paranormal investigation team,
and they agreed to come to her apartment to conduct an investigation.
The team set up their equipment and began their investigation.
They picked up strange readings on their EMF detectors, and at one point,
they heard a voice whispering Sarah's name.
The team concluded that Sarah's apartment was indeed haunted by a malevolent spirit.
They advised her to move out as soon as possible.
Sarah took their advice and moved out of the apartment the next day.
She never experienced anything supernatural again,
but the memory of her haunted apartment stayed with her for a long time.
She still wonders what would have happened
if she had stayed in that apartment for much longer.
