It was a little past 9 p.m. on a Saturday, three years ago,
back when I was delivering pizzas for a pizza joint called Crust & Co.
This was my final delivery of the night,
my last gig at that place ever.
Not because my shift was ending,
but for reasons you're about to uncover.
I had to deliver a regular pizza to a house located approximately 10 minutes away from the restaurant.
Being a fast driver, I arrived promptly.
However, the property was gated,
so I parked on the street and made my way through the gate
along a decently long pathway leading to the front door.
I rang the bell and waited,
but no one answered after a minute.
So, I rang it again.
I knew the doorbell was functional because I heard it ringing from outside.
Finally, the lights in a room adjacent to the front door switched on.
I glanced up at the window,
only to find two individuals peering out at me.
It was extremely unsettling and gave me an eerie feeling.
As I met their gaze, the front door swung open,
revealing a man donning a pig mask.
Unable to see his face, I could sense his excitement upon the pizza's arrival.
He apologized for their costumes and explained that they were hosting a role-playing party.
He invited me to come inside for a moment since it was cold outside,
assuring me that he would fetch his wallet.
I stepped into the house, and he closed the door behind me.
Then, he vanished into another room.
I moved a few feet forward to catch a glimpse of the adjacent room.
To my astonishment, the two individuals I saw at the window earlier had vanished into thin air.
The man called me into another well-lit room nearby.
To be honest, I didn't feel entirely comfortable.
The whole mask situation was incredibly bizarre,
not to mention the creepy people observing me from the window.
Still holding the pizza box, I cautiously proceeded to the other room.
As I passed through the living room into the adjacent room,
I was left utterly speechless by what I encountered.
Six chairs covered in white sheets were arranged in a circle,
with four of them occupied by other individuals wearing peculiar plastic animal masks.
The man in the pig mask, who had opened the door,
told me to join them and assured me it would only take a moment.
Curiosity got the better of me, and I couldn't help but ask,
"What exactly are you guys role-playing?"
Suddenly, all five of them burst into an eerie laughter, intensifying my discomfort.
The man in the pig mask insisted I sit in one of the vacant chairs.
I stared at him in silence, but then
I noticed someone else slowly entering the room,
partially concealed behind a wall opposite me.
This person was wearing a frog mask.
Realizing the situation was getting increasingly unnerving,
I blurted, "You can just keep the pizza."
I started retreating, but the room fell into an unsettling silence.
There was no laughter and no verbal response.
Two of the masked individuals stood up and began moving toward me.
In that moment,
I did the only thing that came to mind.
I hurled the pizza box with all my might at them and fled towards the front door.
I sprinted to my car, but to my horror, they chased me outside.
One of them attempted to break my passenger side window as I sped away,
desperately trying to escape.
I raced down the street and returned to the pizzeria,
where I immediately informed my boss about the harrowing incident.
I felt like I had been robbed,
or worse, on the verge of being kidnapped.
Surprisingly, my boss didn't even want to involve the police.
Frustrated and against my better judgement,
I quit my job that very night.
A few months later,
I found myself taking up another pizza delivery job.
Thankfully, nothing remotely as bizarre
as that night ever occurred again.
